OMSA supplies samplers to Kriel Power Station.

OMSA Valves and Instrumentation is supplying six Dr. Leye/Dr. Thiedig steam water samplers to Kriel Power Station as part of the upgrading process currently being undertaken by Eskom. The contract to supply the units is valued at R9,4 million.

The range of analytical measuring equipment is aimed specifically at the water/steam generation industry, and is well known for its quality and exacting measurement standards. It is a range of analysers that can be mixed and matched to suit the requirements, ideally suited for power stations, but with applications in other sectors as well.

OMSA was awarded the Kriel Power Station contract in 2007, and final delivery and completion of installation of the Dr. Leye/Dr. Thiedig samplers is expected in 2009.

The company also believes the range has applications in the paper, pulp, sugar, chemicals and petroleum industries, where various parameters pertaining to water quality must be measured. Apart from conductivity, molarity and hardness, novel approaches to the determination of extremely low levels of silica and sodium are offered.

The analysers have been purchased with a view to permanent installation on site, with OMSA supplying a full analytical support service for the on-line analysis systems from their headquarters in Randburg.
