Weighing components for automated processes

December 2008 Maintenance, Test & Measurement, Calibration

Mettler Toledo offers a broad range of weighing components and solutions for both industrial and laboratory automated processes. Load cells, weighing sensors, weigh modules and terminals are designed for use in industrial tank weighing, conveyor weighing and machine control.

The range of load cells can be used for simple scale applications, or integrated into robotic systems or high-speed, in-motion weighing processes. Due to the hermetic design of load cells (IP69K), they are ideal for use in harsh environments, particularly chemical process or food applications.

Weigh modules and sensors provide precise, automated weighing with direct data connection and system integration. Applications range from simple weighing even when an agitator is in use, precise filling, specific characterisation of materials and quality control. Weigh modules allow the conversion of systems, such as tanks, silos, hoppers, vessels, conveyors, mixes, and other dynamic loading-systems into weighing scales. Regardless of the application, weigh modules are easy-to-install and provide accurate and reliable performance.

The wide range of industrial scale terminals designed to meet the weighing needs of almost any industry and application, range from simple, easy-to-use terminals for straight weighing applications to advanced instruments that can accumulate data, control systems, operate peripheral equipment, communicate with computers and PLCs. Mettler Toledo Industrial scale terminals offer the highest degree of performance, accuracy and reliability in productions processes.

As technology innovation continues to revolutionise all industries, and issues such as total cost of ownership, return on investment, and ease of integration become more important, Mettler Toledo introduced Internet-enabled scale terminals and other terminals that incorporate the leading technologies and offer open connectivity. Another advantage is compatibility and ease of connection to various systems via several protocols: TCP/IP, ControlNet, Ethernet IP, DeviceNet, Profibus DP, Modbus+, Allen-BradleyR10, 4–20 mA/0–10 V, RS422/485, RS232 and discrete digital I/O.
