New compact instrument for humidity, velocity and temperature

March 2001 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Recognising the need for more accurate and consistent measurements in the HVAC industry and maintenance, Testo has launched the Model 445 instrument combining temperature, velocity and humidity measurements in one unit. For routine applications up to 99 locations can be preprogrammed and identified and more than 3000 readings stored in memory.

A convenient connection via serial RS232 port allows the user to download and process the data on computer to generate reports, analyse statistical data and store tables for reference and ISO certification purposes.

Besides temperature, humidity and velocity the Testo 445 also allows measurements for CO2 which is closely related to 'sick building syndrome' and affects air quality. High levels of CO2 result in fatigue at the working place, reduce productivity and are an indicator of whether sufficient fresh air is circulated in air-conditioned environments.

The Testo 445 has also found important applications in the agricultural industry, where temperature, ventilation and humidity levels in chicken pens, egg incubators and pigstys are crucial for optimal yields.

For hospital and laboratory engineers the Testo 445 and 450 instruments will ensure that accurate and reliable measurements can be documented of the climatic conditions of intensive care units (ICU) and in pathological laboratories as well as research environments where changes can have a profound influence on the well-being of patients and in the success of research projects. In the food industry the checking of ventilation and ambient condition has become an increased factor in HACCP procedures and ISO 9000 certification.

The Testo 445 is one instrument that makes many checks possible in a convenient and easy manner.
