Direct valve terminal 'knows how to communicate'
March 2001
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
Festo's CPV direct valve terminal is available with an increasingly wide range of integrated protocols, providing new design flexibility. The unit's direct interface is able to communicate with most of the common fieldbus protocols such as Profibus, Interbus, DeviceNET, CANopen and AS-i.

The terminal features a compact, lightweight housing incorporating both pneumatics and electronics, a cost-effective interface, fast machine cycle times and low connection costs. It is easily controlled via a removable switch module.
The signal control for the individual terminal functions are converted into serial data protocols via an integrated interface. Regardless of which controller system the customer chooses, the CPV valve terminal provides a connection. Special attention was given to ensure contacts are of high quality while the plugs and female connectors of a bus system fit the sockets of the appropriate CPV valve terminal correctly.
Festo is highlighting its reputation as 'the inventor of the valve terminal' with its direct integration concept. With the new facilities for the direct integration of AS-i, Interbus, Profibus DP, CANopen and DeviceNET, the company believes that it is able to offer customers the best solution for each individual application.
