Electrical Power & Protection
MEAN WELL has introduced the PB-1000 series intelligent battery charger for lead-acid batteries, which extends the charger range to 1000 W of available output power. Featuring user selectable 3/8-stage charging characteristics the microprocessor controlled charger can be set to fast charge depleted batteries quickly and efficiently. Alternatively, a more complete charging curve can be selected if maximum energy transfer to the battery banks is desired.
In order to extend battery life the charger has been equipped with a temperature compensation circuit, which senses ambient battery temperature and adjusts charging current accordingly. Other new design features include:
* Universal AC input.
* Built-in power factor correction.
* Reverse polarity, short circuit, over-voltage and over-temperature protection.
* Remote on/off control.
* Controlled dual outputs for charging two battery banks simultaneously.
* LED load indicator and relay contacts for remote status monitoring.
The product has been designed for use in electrically powered vehicles, UPS and security system back-ups and home appliances incorporating lead-acid batteries. Compactly packaged in a 300x185x70 mm housing, the PB-1000 complies with EN61000-3-2 harmonic emission requirements and carries UL/CUL/TUV/CB/CE approvals.
