Certified pressure sensors

March 2008 Pressure Measurement & Control

Endress+Hauser has expanded its Cerabar range of advanced pressure measurement tools with the introduction of Cerabar M and Cerabar S designed specifically for the stringent hygienic requirements of the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Optimised for the food industry, Cerabar M enables enhancements in productivity, accuracy and efficiency, regardless of whether pressure is measured in liquid, steam or gas. It offers state-of-the-art hygienic design and conforms to 3-A and EHEDG guidelines and safety via IEC61508/IEC61511 (SIL 2).

Cerabar M is housed in stainless steel and comes equipped with all the standard process connections (Triclamp, DIN, Varivent etc) to ensure hygienic flush fitting. The robust instrument can withstand CIP or SIP cleaning up to 150°C and its performance proven sensor can satisfy the highest requirements, with measuring ranges up to 400 bar.

It is also compliant with the US Pharmacopeia (USP class VI) regulation and has a pure ceramic, corrosion-resistant measuring cell. The cell has no fill-fluid to contaminate the product and is resistant to abrasive applications and sudden pressure shocks.

Cerabar S is designed for more intensive and demanding situations. It provides the highest degree of functionality, information and process safety via a Quick Setup menu. It uses plain English text and is designed and manufactured to IEC61508/IEC61511. The highly-sophisticated, high-pressure transmitter has been engineered based on experience, common sense, practicality and simplicity.

For maximum protection, Cerabar S is available with an easy to clean stainless steel housing and is able to withstand CIP or SIP cleaning procedures. Cerabar S is compatible with HART, PROFIBUS and FOUNDATION Fieldbus for simple retrofitting into your existing systems.
