Profisafe for Profibus and Profinet
December 2007
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
New safety products for Profibus and Profinet have been added to the WAGO range. A four-channel input module, eight-channel input module and dual-channel four-input four-output module are suitable for applications up to Category 4, SIL3.
WAGO Profisafe modules
The 12 mm wide WAGO Profisafe modules with pluggable connectors offer full configurability via TCI. The hardware addresses can be stored via a dipswitch or address parameters, in a safe and permanent manner. Using the WAGO configuration software, discrepancy and filter times, test pulse lengths and other parameters can be adjusted for different types of sensors and actuators. WAGO implements the open TCI standard, which offers a multivendor uniform remote interface for all device engineering tools and engineering tools of automation systems.
The three Profisafe modules feature extensive diagnostic options, either via fieldbus or via integrated LED indicators. Short-circuits, overloads, external voltages and discrepancy errors, as well as module related values such as over temperature and supply voltage can be identified for each channel.
The sensor power supply and the outputs of the three new modules are short circuit and overload proof. They are also equipped with a pluggable connector for pre-assembly and servicing work without disturbing existing wiring. Safety and standard modules can be combined in any possible way within a node. The benefits of fieldbus-based safety systems and modular I/O systems are thus provided to the user simultaneously.
