Device combines voltage and current protection

Electrical Power & Protection
DEHN's TNC/TNS/TT/2P multipole combined lightning current and surge arresters provide an all-in-one solution for protecting LV installations against surges and direct lightning strikes. DEHNventil M TT provides the same level of protection where previously up to 12 devices were required. The combined Class I lightning current and Class 2 overvoltage surge arresters require only 30% of the space of similar devices. No de-coupling inductance coils are necessary between the Class I and Class 2 arresters.
DEHNventil M TT combines Class I lightning current and Class 2 overvoltage protection
Providing maximum system availability, the modular devices are easily installed in different types of power supply systems, with no need for calculations. Their discharge capability meets protection level 1 in accordance with EN 61643-11, the highest requirements of lightning protection at present. The devices are capable of protecting equipment, even in the case of a lightning strike with an intensity of up to 100 kA (10/350 μs).
By using encapsulated spark gap technology, safety distances to adjacent components within the distribution cabinet are unnecessary. Even at fault currents of up to 50 kA RMS a 35 A fuse will not trip when DEHNventil TT extinguishes the follow-on current.
As the combined current and overvoltage arresters have no leakage current, direct use of the device upstream of a meter is possible.
In the unlikely event of modules being overstressed they are easily replaceable as individual plug in units.
The twin terminals simplify connection and eliminate inductive volt drop across long connecting cables. An additional bus bar terminal at the output increases the combination possibilities with other DIN rail mounted components.
Indication is provided by means of green mechanical flags, or if required, the optional remote contacts of the FM version to inform the user of the state of the protection.
All DEHNventil devices have an additional earth terminal. This allows a safe connection to the main earth bar as well as short connection to the protective earth conductor of the power supply system.
