Many industrial processes literally eat pH electrodes, with replacement being required every few weeks. The patented GLI differential sensors have significantly improved.
This sensor performs in the most demanding applications because it has sealed electronics which eliminate moisture problems and has a chemical-resistant body. At its core are three measuring electrodes instead of the two contained in conventional pH sensors. The process electrode and the reference electrode (which contains a buffer solution and not KCI) measure the pH differentially to a third ground electrode. This technique achieves high accuracy, reduces reference junction fouling and virtually eliminates ground loops. The built-in preamplifier converts the high impedance mV signal to low impedance which enables transmission distances of over 900 m to be achieved.
The pH sensor is field maintainable. Should the sensor be out of calibration, one simply replaces the salt bridge and the reference buffer solution. A chloride-free salt bridge and reference solution are available for processes that may react with chlorides.
Any GLI differential pH sensor that fails within one year from the date of shipment will be replaced free of charge. If the sensor fails for any reason, including physical damage, within 30 months, GLI will provide a replacement at a pro rata price.

At its peak in 1994, the energy generation capacity of the UK’s nuclear power stations was 12,7 GW across 16 plants. In 2024, the capacity has fallen to around 5 GW, and the number of stations is down to nine. However, this is far from the end of the story as spent nuclear fuel remains radioactive for centuries, and requires rigorous safety processes to safeguard against leaks.
