Thermo Electron's FH 40 G multipurpose survey meter has a built-in, wide range, proportional detector measuring dose rates from 10 nSv/h to 1S v/h. The unit has dual channel capabilities for simultaneous measurement with an optional external detector. Up to 40 different external detectors are available for connection to the FH 40 G.
The FH 40 G, with only four keys, is easy to operate despite its multifunction capabilities. Desired functions can be activated or cancelled using an optional Windows-based operating program resulting in the FH 40 G corresponding precisely with the measurement task and reducing operator errors. Stored measured values can be accessed any time and displayed on the meter. For further processing and archiving purposes it is possible to transfer the data to a PC via the FH 40 G interface. Alarms levels are settable for both local and remote detectors including mixed radiation fields, ie, gamma and neutron.
When using the FH 40 G teleprobe as an external detector, remote locations may be investigated and personal safety of the operator is monitored locally. For special measuring tasks, the wide range dose detector at the tip of the telescope can be replaced by a high sensitivity scintillation detector or by a lightweight neutron sniffer.
