Trace level gas monitoring for bulk gas, environmental and research applications

November 2006 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Ametek's Trace Analytical ta5000 family is designed to monitor trace levels of specific impurities in bulk gases, environmental and research applications. All ta5000 instruments include a dedicated sample processing system, a single high sensitivity detector, and onboard analysis electronics. Two models are available, each with a different detector to monitor a different selection of impurities.

The ta5000R detects H2, CO and unsaturated hydrocarbons using a reduction gas detector (RGD) with a 3 ppb detection limit. The ta5000F detects CO2, methane and non-methane hydrocarbons with a flame ionisation detector with a 3 ppb detection limit.

Both models feature high sensitivity and a broad detection range providing cost-efficient maintenance and operation. The ta5000's chromatographic hardware is available in several configurations, each of which enables the instrument to perform a highly specialised task.

The ta5000 gas analysers offer extreme sensitivity from ppm down to ppb levels and negligible matrix effects from permanent gases. This sensitivity combined with the separating power of gas chromatography and the modern user interface makes the ta5000 the analyser of choice for selective measurements of impurities in air.

Designed for continuous operation, the ta5000 is configured for 19" (48,3 cm) rack mounting, as well as being suitable for field use.

When interfaced with the Sigma4000 Multipoint Stream Selector, the ta5000 can monitor several sampling points. The onboard microprocessor controls the stream selector, stored calibration parameters and processes data in a variety of formats. Trace Viewer Software formats data, reports alarm status and stores chromatograms on a local PC. The MGB1000 Micro Gas Blender is a complementary accessory for low concentrations and analyser performance validation.

Ametek is represented locally by OEN Enterprises.
