November 2006Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
The everyday importance of pH measurement has grown dramatically over the past two decades. This parameter has expanded from pure laboratory use and is now being monitored and controlled in areas such as food, agriculture, pharmaceutical, cosmetic and water treatment. Every application has its own operating environment and tolerances which necessitate instruments designed to specific needs. In addition each market brings with it people from different backgrounds and technical training. To answer these market requirements, Hanna Instruments has developed a comprehensive range of pH meters and controllers.
A recent requirement in pH measurement called for the hard-copy documenting of measurements. Hanna answered this by producing the first portable printing and logging pH meter. In addition it has now become necessary for companies with ISO certification to record the last calibration data in order to avoid errors in the measurement of pH. Again Hanna produced a special range of GLP (good laboratory practice) instruments to meet this requirement, and these are now, together with the complete range of pH meters - from pocket testers to portables, bench-tops and in-line process controllers - available from Hanna Instruments.
The company's product range has further been expanded with the addition of a number of new products, such as in-line chlorine analysers, turbidity meters, multiparameter colorimeters, a comprehensive range of ion-specific colorimeters, combined pH, conductivity, and TDS meters.
Hanna Instruments also manufactures a wide range of other electro-analytical instrumentation which includes, portable and bench top conductivity, dissolved oxygen, thermo-hygrometers, thermometers, ORP meters, turbidity meters, and titrators. Other products include pH and ORP electrodes, chemical test kits, dosing pumps, process instruments and process accessories.
Sensitivity to customers needs, timeous response to market demands and a continuous commitment to expanding the product range, have been key factors in Hanna's success in the South African market.
