New halogen moisture analyser - for the most stringent requirements
July 2006Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
Thermogravimetric moisture-content analysis is a method frequently used for the quality control of substances such as food, chemicals, pharmaceuticals and raw materials. Mettler Toledo's halogen heat source technology makes it possible to determine moisture content quickly, efficiently and reliably. Unlike traditional drying methods, the process is precise and causes minimal damage to the sample.
Halogen moisture analysers are a further development of infrared drying and offer a fast and cost-effective alternative to the traditional drying-oven method. The precisely regulated halogen technology is the key to success for a number of applications which have not been satisfactorily provided by balances with conventional infrared lamps.
With the Mettler Toledo halogen moisture analysers the process is accelerated, since the target temperature is reached quickly and maintained. The ultra-fast halogen drying technology enables accurate and fast moisture determination for a large spectrum of samples. Time is reduced by as much as 40% compared to infrared methods.
High reliability and accuracy, functional QM (quality management) tools, such as the integrated instrument check, the three-level password protection, automatic method development, and the comprehensive sample identification traceable to international standards, qualify the new HR83 halogen moisture analyser for use in regulated environments.
The new AutoMet function of the HR83 allows the user to develop methods efficiently, and if required, automatically match the reference value. Numerous optimised application methods are also available in the methods database.
Large keys provide direct access to the main functions, making operation easy. The results are either printed out or transferred to computer via a data interface. Ease of use and flexibility make these compact and programmable instruments suitable for applications in laboratories and various production areas.
