The ioLogik E2210 is designed to read and control the on/off status of devices remotely over an Ethernet network from a host computer for remote monitoring in factory automation, environmental monitoring and building automation systems.
The LCD display kit allows the user to configure the network and check I/O status of devices without using a PC, during field inspection. Support for the standard Modbus protocol makes ioLogik 2000 compatible with most scada software, such as Intellution, iFix, and Citect.
The server also has a unique SNMP to I/O feature that allows users to monitor the I/O status of devices by using standard SNMP-based network management systems, such as OpenView. The ultra high speed Active I/O messaging can send TCP or UDP packets from E2210 to 10 host computers within 50 ms when I/O changes occur, allowing the host computer to be updated easily, but without consuming a lot of network bandwidth and CPU time.
For Windows programming, the upcoming MXIO DLL programming library is available for users of Visual Basic, Visual C++, and Borland C++ Builder. "ioLogik E2210 Ethernet I/O is the most easy to use Remote I/O for Industrial IT system integration. It is both flexible and powerful enough for modern automation applications," said Andy Cheng, division manager at MOXA Technologies. "For example, ioLogik E2210 Ethernet I/O Server has been adopted in an advanced RFID-based baggage tracking system. Thanks to its flexibility, fast response time over Ethernet, and high performance, the customer can easily improve the overall performance of the system." The picture shows the ioLogik E2210 without (left) and with (right) the LCD display kit installed.
Introduction to Part 2 loop signatures and process transfer functions
Fieldbus & Industrial Networking
The previous series of loop signature articles dealt with the basics of control loop optimisation, and concentrated on troubleshooting and ‘SWAG’ tuning of simple processes. In this new series, consideration will be given to dealing practically with more difficult issues like interactive processes, and with processes with much more complex dynamics.

IT in Manufacturing
The maritime industry is moving through one of the most important transformations in its history. Ships that once operated as collections of independent systems are now evolving into integrated digital ecosystems, where navigation, monitoring and control systems must exchange a constant flow of data. At the heart of this transformation lies the IEC 61162 family of standards.
