April 2006Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
E+E Elektronik has developed a CO2 transmitter for agriculture applications. Measuring instruments in green houses or livestock barns are exposed to very demanding environments, such as high humidity levels, pollutants like fertilisers, herbicides, as well as high ammonia concentrations.
The robust, functional housing of the EE82 with integrated special filters has been designed so that the air diffuses through the filter into the instrument enclosure, and then it diffuses further through a second membrane filter, which is integrated in the CO2 measuring cell.
The measurement is based on the non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) technology. The auto calibration procedure compensates for ageing of the infrared source and guarantees high reliability and long-term stability, and eliminates the need of periodical recalibration in the field. The measuring range of these transmitters is 0 to 5000/7000 ppm, and the output signal is 0 to 10 V or 4 to 20 mA. The practical snap-in mounting flange and connector for the supply voltage and outputs allow quick and easy installation of the EE82 without having to open the housing.
