8-port RS232 PCI card

The PCI-1620 eight-port communication card is compatible with the PCI 2.1 bus specification and ensures system reliability in multitasking environments. The card provides eight optional surge protected RS232 ports and features high transmission speeds of 921,6 Kbps. There are eight independent RS232 ports, high performance 16PCI954 UARTs with 128-byte FIFO and a 16C954 UART to reduce the CPU load.

Universal in design, the PCI connector is compatible with both 3,3 V and 5 V signalling making it suitable for both traditional and new systems. In order to further increase reliability, PCI-1620B and PCI-1620U offer surge protection of up to 3 kV d.c.

ICOM Tools, a convenient utility program, tests the PCI card's performance by analysing the port status. Easy to use with menu commands and toolbar buttons, ICOM Tools acts as a PC-based data scope that allows the user to set a trigger condition, capture the communications data and monitor the signal status. Space is reserved on the PCI-1620 for termination resistors and the I/O address is automatically assigned by PCI plug-and-play.
