Omniterm B series signal conditioners have been released for Intrinsically Safe applications. The Universal Transmitter and the Frequency Input transmitter have been approved IS on Input. [Ex ib] IIc These two units provide a wide range of signal conditioning applications from temperature inputs, voltage and current, resistance, proximity switches, and frequency inputs. Linearisation is standard with custom applications possible. Functions like signal inversion, linear or square root integration ie, Pulse outputs are all standard options.
The Omniterm B series products TxB and THz are designed to meet IEC61508 criteria for SIL 1 applications. Configuration is via Omniset, a Windows-based software package available free from the Omniflex Website with no calibration necessary and set-up taking roughly 3 minutes - which can be done in situ, allowing engineers to specify the product and then range it during the commissioning phase - eliminating the need to make costly and time consuming changes later in the project.
