UK-based company, MTL Surge Technologies, has designed a redundant power system, which provides increased system availability for fieldbus segments by addressing a common single point of failure in fieldbus systems: the segment power conditioner.
The F690A is supplied as a kit consisting of the carrier, alarm module and eight power conditioning modules. The price of this complete kit provides a 22% cost saving compared to ordering all the items separately.
The F690A is available in left and right handed versions to allow flexibility in cabinet layout. It has been designed to be mounted on vertical DIN rails, so typically the system cables, power feed and alarming will be in the centre of the cabinet with field cabling on either side.
For field connections, the F690A is available with pluggable screw terminals, or pluggable screw clamp terminals, for the field wiring connections. The ability to disconnect the field cabling is useful when commissioning the system as this allows testing of the fieldbus cable.
This power system is available with a single host connection/segment with pluggable screw terminals, clamp connections, for interfacing with Delta V with single or redundant fieldbus cards or to single linking devices. For applications requiring connection to redundant linking devices, then the PA/PB versions are recommended, which have redundant host connections with fixed screw terminals. (All MTL Surge Technology fieldbus products have a 10-year product warranty.)
