DeviceNet PSU modules and accessories

November 2005 Electrical Power & Protection

Puls is offering a DeviceNet approved range of Dimension power supply modules that incorporate features vital for the reliable supply of power to industrial control systems. QS5.DNET and QS10.DNET DeviceNet approved, recent new products include a 'Dimensional Buffer' unit, which uses a capacitor bank to source up to 20 A for 200 ms in the event of mains power glitches; there is a dual decoupling unit for coupling PSUs together, and wall-mounting bracket kit. DeviceNet requirements met include QS5.DNET (Class 2: 24 V, 3,8 A) and QS10.DNET (24 V, 8 A).

Current rating is as per cable rating at a maximum output voltage of 25 V. There is special timing after turn-on, precise current limitation and NEC compliance including Class 2 for QS5.DNET and Class 1 for QS10.DNET.

Decoupling modules

These prevent current from flowing from a working PSU into a failed PSU when more than one PSU is coupled to the same load. These decoupling modules are useful for setting up redundant power supply to controllers - and for separating sensitive loads. The YR2.Diode decoupling module offers a dual input, single output, common cathode arrangement similar to an MLY02.100. It handles a wide input voltage range (10 to 60 V), with continuous current up to 20 A. The modules have rugged metal housings and feature quick-connect spring-clamp terminals for easy wiring - and distribution terminals for negative pole are also included.

Dimension buffer unit

This stores energy in a capacitor array and releases it to bridge mains glitches. It is the same as the SLV20.200 except the terminal arrangement has changed for a better fit to dimension units, spring-clamp terminals are used instead of screw terminals, and it includes a dimension DIN-rail mounting system.
