Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

pH meter for water applications

October 2005 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

The new robust pH tester is easy to use, accurate - while insensitive to dirt, protein and soiling - making it a suitable measuring instrument for the harsh industrial environments of water purification and wastewater treatment. The storage solution is a gel and not a liquid. What does not drip cannot leak - so the probes will not dry out, and exhibit a longer lifespan.

In industrial wastewater treatment and water purification, robust and accurate pH measuring equipment is necessary to determine the state of the raw effluent, control the dosage of chemicals in the neutralisation process and monitor the quality of the final discharge.

Typically, industrial pH probes have a fairly short life span due to glass breakage and dirt ingress. They are sensitive to soiling, protein and dirt, resulting in incorrect measurements. The storage solution often leaks which leads to dried out probes.

Testo, a European leader in portable measuring equipment, is offering a pH measuring instrument used for efficient and accurate monitoring in industrial wastewater treatment and water purification.

The newly-designed hole-diaphragm, gel reference electrolyte and low membrane resistance ensures that the pH probe is unaffected by dirt, protein and soiling. The Testo 206 pH1 is easy to use due to its one-button operation, producing a fast and stable reading of both temperature and pH on a clear two line display.

The pH tester includes a unique combination of a pH penetration tip and a temperature probe. Consequently, accurate readings are guaranteed in all ambient conditions. The instrument combination is embedded in fracture proof plastic housings further contributing to the robust nature of the probe. Probes will last longer as glass breakage is almost impossible. The storage gel comes in a preservation cap, which clips onto the probe after use.
