Flue gas analyser with dilution control
September 2005
Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
New to flue gas measurement technology is a multipurpose analyser that is user-friendly, has an automatically controlled dilution factor and can monitor its own functionality, resulting in a longer lifespan and more accurate readings.
Current analysers are often too bulky and have complicated operation procedures. Furthermore, users cannot determine when a fault in the instrument has occurred, thus, resulting in inaccurate readings. Moreover, the measurement cells are generally susceptible to failure, as they have no protection against high concentration levels of certain gases.
Testo, a European leader in portable measuring equipment, has recently introduced a unique flue gas analyser that is user-friendly due to its ergonomic design and uncomplicated menu driven operation. Additionally, individual measurement protocols or reports can be generated using the 'easyEmission' software, which is connected via the USB interface.
The analyser has a built-in dilution factor that dilutes the concentration of gases that exceed the measuring range of the cells, thus, protecting the cell and enabling the user to measure higher concentrations of certain gases.
The testo 335 can provide a functionality report, enabling the user to know when a fault has occurred, thus, increasing the lifespan of the instrument and enabling a more accurate analysis. Included in the testo 335 diagnosis is a quality check on measuring cells, filter status, condensation trap level indicator, leaks in the analyser, pump capacity, charging status of rechargeable battery, date of last maintenance and sensor calibration data.
The instrument can efficiently monitor O2, CO, CO2, SO2, NO and NO2 concentrations as well as ambient CO and CO2 levels and flue gas temperatures, draughts, differential and absolute pressure. It can be used in many applications including industrial combustion systems, boilers and burners, plant construction and stationary engines.
