Robust multicomponent gas analyser

July 2005 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Conventional gas analyser standards limit gas analysers to specific applications. In order to address the varied requirements of environmental and process gas analysis, Environmental Process Analytics (SA) in conjunction with Oliver-IGD (UK) have formulated an analyser system to suit most applications.

The Tocsin 320 is a modular emission measurement system designed and developed to provide the most flexible solution possible to suit today's emission measurement engineer. The package comprises a complete system with built in gas pumps, filters and coolers. An embedded control system is at the heart of the Tocsin 320 providing a sophisticated data acquisition and control solution. The analyser can be re-configured at any time to add or remove parameters to suit whatever new measurement requirements arise.

Up to eight parameters can be measured and displayed on screen. Data from these can be logged or printed to a built-in printer. Analog outputs are also available. The T320 has a multigas range facility to suit the ppb, ppm and %volume requirements of the application. Auto zero and calibration facilities are standard. The analyser is supplied in standard 19" 6U x 500 mm rack format. Panel mount, IP 65 enclosures or Zone 11 specification are available according to user definition.

The gas sample temperature can be anything in the range 0 to 1 300°C at a nominal sample flow rate of 6 litres per minute. Response time is 30 seconds and the output is via 4 to 20 mA, RS232, and a 640 x 200 backlit LCD. Maximum power consumption is 110 W. The analyser is tested to Class 1 DIN 57 411 pt.1/VDE and is able to monitor: Lambda, AFR, efficiency, flow, H2O, O3, CO2, NO2, H2, HCL, C3H6, O2, CO, NO, SO2, hydrocarbons, LPG, and includes sensor diagnostics. Sensing of other gases is available on request (with cross-sensitivity compensation).
