Economies of space, adjustment and installation can be achieved by using a multisensor flange when mounting different sensors on large tanks. The plics (plug in concepts) programme from VEGA offers a uniform housing and adjustment concept for all level and pressure sensors, which allows for the instruments to be mounted on a single, multisensor flange.
Continuous level measurement will be carried out by either a radar or a guided microwave instrument. There might be one or two level switches for reliable level detection. The tank pressure will be monitored by means of a pressure transmitter. There is space on the DN 300 or 12" flange to provide for a hole for sounding or sampling.
The main advantage of this central mounting concept is the far lower cost compared with mounting on individual process fittings. The set-up procedure is also greatly simplified as all sensors have the same reference point for adjustment.
