Autotech Weighing Systems has introduced to the southern African market what is believed to be the only assizable mainline speed in-motion train weighing system in the world.
The Railweight high-speed system already has OIML approval for weighing individual wagons of trains coupled and in-motion at speeds of up to 80 km/h. This will have a significant impact on the manner in which freight trains are monitored throughout South Africa. Presently the trains have to be slowed down at the weighbridge sites resulting in time wasting and disruption of traffic. The Weighline high-speed system can automatically recognise vehicles and record and transmit weights at mainline speeds, as well as additional data including side-to-side and end-to-end imbalance loading.
Autotech Weighing Systems is in the unique position of being able to supply an in-motion train weighing system for any application due to the extensive Railweight range. Railweight is a pioneer of in-motion weighing. The tried and tested Railweight systems operating at siding speeds have been available in South Africa since 1970 with assize approval since 1974. They are also the preferred weighing system before and after load out stations and tipplers.
The Railweight Bolt-On and mobile systems are in widespread use underground and on surface as check weighers. The systems are versatile and can communicate to central systems as the ultimate management system supplying data such as train direction, truck number, date, time, gross, nett and tare weights, etc. No special foundations, steelwork or expensive civil construction are required. Installation can take place without disrupting normal traffic and can be completed within hours (or between trains).
