In-line mineral quantifier

October 2004 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Blue Cube Systems exhibited its MQi Inline Mineral Quantifier at the Electra Mining Exhibition in Johannesburg from 6-10 September. The company reports: "Great interest was shown in the MQi, which was enthusiastically received by potential users". Many visitors introduced potential new applications for Blue Cube Systems' MMMC (minute-by-minute mineral composition) technology.

The technology can find an application in many mineral separation processes. Application of the MQi in conjunction with separation equipment has already demonstrated the substantial advantage achievable by having minute-by-minute mineral composition available to optimise operations by tuning the equipment. According to Pieter de Waal, executive director of the company, the fact that Blue Cube Systems is receiving repeat orders is a clear sign that the product provides value to users.

Many visitors were surprised to learn that the technology was developed locally. The units have been designed and are built at the Blue Cube facilities in Stellenbosch. Only high quality components from reputable suppliers find their way into the rugged but attractively designed MQi units where they are combined with the unique and patented MMMC software. "The MQi has met with all our objectives," said managing director, Francois du Plessis. "The Blue Cube team really performed well in bringing this package to fruition."
