On-line gas analyser system
November 2000
Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
AFH Devers will be supplying the first of a new Maihak all-modular series of gas analysers to Bateman Titaco for the COSAC (cobalt from slag and copper as a byproduct) contract at Chambishi Metals in Zambia. Three S700 series gas analysers will be supplied to monitor, on-line, the amount of CO, O2 and H2 gases in the DC arc furnace at Chambishi. Continuous monitoring of these gases permits adjustments to be made to gas inputs in order to optimise production output.
Because the S700 series is modular, a customised solution can be supplied for nearly every industrial measurement application. A total of seven different analyser modules - available in a choice of three different enclosures, including flameproof - are available for the measurement of more than 60 different gases. Many applications can be achieved from emission measurements of standard industrial boilers and waste incinerators, through to applications in biological gas analysis and in process gas analysis.
The analyser modules are:
UNOR - NDIR-absorption principle for one component.
MULTOR - NDIR-absorption principle for up to three different components.
THERMOR - thermal conductivity principle for one component.
DEFOR - UV-absorption principle or one component.
FINOR - interference filter correlation for up to three different gas components.
OXOR-P - paramagnetic measuring principle for oxygen.
OXOR-E - electrochemical cell for determination of oxygen.
Depending on the space in the enclosure and support of electronics and software, up to three modules can be combined in one enclosure. Five measuring values can be calculated and indicated, four of them with 4-20 mA output facility.
