Measuring total hydrocarbons in water

The Series DHIR 2000 infrared hydrocarbon analyser from Honeywell conducts measurements at 3420 nm for the total aliphatic hydrocarbons and at 3300 nm for the aromatic hydrocarbons, at measuring ranges of 0-10 and 0-30 mg/litre.
The minimum detectable limit is 0,3 mg/l for the 0-10 mg/l range and the unit operates with an 11 min analysis frequency.
The measurement principle is performed in two successive stages. The first stage involves extraction of hydrocarbon oils into a solvent - the only method ensuring recovery of both dissolved and suspended hydrocarbons. The second stage calculates the concentration of hydrocarbon oils in the solvent from the absorbance of non-dispersive infrared.
The DHIR 2000 is also environmentally friendly, emitting no pollutants via the rejected solvent, which is reclaimed and recycled.
