Last year, the inventors of the Endress+Hauser Group were more productive than ever before in over 50 years of corporate history. The instrumentation specialist applied for new patents for 157 developments, 26 more than during the previous year. At the 'Innovators' Meeting 2004' at Basel Zoo, Switzerland, the company awarded prizes for the three most important patents granted in 2003.
One hundred and ninety-two scientists, engineers and technicians celebrated the new record in patent applications at the 'Innovators' Meeting 2004'. The highlight of the event was the announcement of the 'Patent Rights Incentive Award 2004' winners. Three teams from different plants of the group were honoured for developments in the areas of level, flow and registration.

The subject of innovation capability is often addressed, but you cannot simply order inventiveness. "You can, however, create a climate in which innovation thrives," Klaus Endress, CEO of the Endress+Hauser Group, states his conviction. He views the rapidly growing number of new patents as a sign of the innovative culture and strength of the company. "Innovation has been the motor of corporate growth for Endress+Hauser right from the beginning."
The 'Patent Rights Incentive Program' introduced in 2000 has proved successful, as the number of patent application of 55 in 1999 has tripled. In 2003, the company filed applications for 155 developments at the German Patent and Trademark Office and more than 100 at the European Patent Office.
