Sperosens has delivered and installed more than 150 of its MM100 methane and water interlocking systems for mechanical miners since the system was introduced during 1975. The system has been approved by the SABS for use in underground hazardous areas.
The on-board systems product range has been expanded to include the MMA200 system, which provides realtime remote machine status monitoring and the MMA700, which interlocks the CM cutting drum to the section secondary ventilation fan. All of the system options are compatible with each other and may be applied as individually (as in the case of the MM100 system) or combined as a single integrated system.
The on-board systems family utilises the proven LonWorks data communications technology that forms the foundation of the Sperosens SL2000 underground telemetry system to provide reliable two-way communications between the mobile CM and the remainder of the mine data infrastructure. The on-board systems may be integrated with the SL2000 underground telemetry system to provide a single system integrating environmental management, fire detection, conveyor-belt control and remote machine monitoring and control with realtime data for all of these systems available in a surface control room. All Spero on-board systems are compatible with Joy and Voest platforms.
The Spero Group also offers a wide range of environmental sensors specifically designed for harsh underground conditions to complement the SL2000 telemetry system.
