Pilot plant design for cleaner air
May 2003
Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring
AST Manufacturing Systems Integration (MSI), a business unit of the AST Group, and Durban-based Fibre-Wound SA have completed the second pilot Dyna-Wave plant, which will be used to test and market the unique technology of Fibre-Wound and Enviro-Chem Systems, a Monsanto company, in the local and European markets.
"The Dyna-Wave plant quenches and treats wet or dry toxic emissions, extracting and neutralising poisonous gases and absorbing dust particles, releasing good, clean air that meets internationally accepted standards," explains Stefan Boshoff of Fibre-Wound.
The pilot plant is a self-contained, trailer-mounted version of the permanent plant, and will allow potential clients to test and evaluate the technology before committing themselves to a full, on-site installation. The first pilot plant has been deployed in the local market, with good results over the past 18 months.
"Fibre-Wound and AST MSI have a longstanding relationship, and have collaborated on a number of projects. For this pilot plant, AST MSI provided the electrical and automation systems," continues Boshoff. "AST MSI shares our commitment to service excellence. The relationship with AST and the shared commitment allow us to be innovative and to extend our horizons."
