The Cherub personal gas monitor from Trolex is the result of a worldwide assessment of hazardous area legislation. Conforming to all major international standards, including ATEX, the Cherub is a compact, handheld instrument for the continuous monitoring of dangerous flammable and toxic gas concentrations.
The unit is capable of monitoring two gases simultaneously and is available with combinations of methane (CH4), carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen sulphide (H2S) detector heads. A sealed, rechargeable polymer battery provides between 15 and 40 hours continuous use depending on the combination of detector heads. The battery can be recharged in less than five hours.
Alarms include a confidence tone, flashing LED's, high output audible, vibration alert and earpiece facility. Alarm setpoints, zero and span are all adjustable whilst the instrument is in the calibration battery charger and 'switch off' can also be enabled and disabled from the calibration charger. This feature allows the Cherub to be used as a Continuous Monitor or a Spot Reader.
With both Group I (Mining) Ex ia and Group II Ex ia (Non Mining) certification, the Cherub provides reliable protection in mines and industrial hazardous areas at a realistic price and very low cost of ownership. IA No. SABS M/03-006 EExia I.
