The operation of all types of industrial systems – ranging from simple steam generators to large-scale power stations is subject, in most countries, to strict guidelines for flue gas emissions in the atmosphere. This is where flue gas analysis plays a key role.
Important criteria include accuracy and acceptance of measured results, as well as detailed and clear documentation of values and flexibility. Gas analysis supplies the information needed for process control such as burner design, flame control, combustion material and burner temperature, ambient air supply, etc.
Product quality and also a reduction in operating costs of process burners or through-type furnaces in the glass, ceramics and building materials industry, hardening burners and many more is achieved by optimising burner adjustment.
Testo's electronic flue gas analysers have been used successfully over the last 20 years for many different industrial applications. Many renowned companies use the instruments to check emissions, optimise burners and to monitor process quality. The Testo 350 flue gas analyser can be used for multipurpose monitoring, emission monitoring and process monitoring.
Its maker says that the system enables spot checks as well as simultaneous long-term measurement at different points in the flue gas system. It reduces and monitors emissions, and troubleshoots problem process conditions. Additional parameters such as flue gas quantity, pressure and temperature can be measured for assessment purposes.
The Testo 350 is a flexible, portable measuring system for a broad range of combustion applications. This advanced analyser can be used to adjust all types of industrial burners, measure concentrations in raw and clean gas over a longer period of time, check the atmospheres of all types of process furnaces, maintain stationary motors such as modular cogeneration stations, and check gas pressures and gas velocities in flue gas and fresh air ducts.
The Testo 350 analyser is portable. It is commonly desirable to have a remote display at the burner controls - with this instrument the control unit is detachable, and can be operated at up to 50 m away from the analysis box. Testo's integrated gas conditioning achieves accurate measurement of NOx or SO2 and the analyser is also protected from corrosive condensate from the flue gas. Fast, easy and inexpensive maintenance is assured. The user can exchange consumables such as measuring cells on site. The control unit can operate the entire system and read out data or be used as a stand-alone hand-held instrument. It can measure differential pressure, temperature, humidity, velocity, and more.
Comsoft operation and analysis software allows for simple programming in order to guarantee problem-free operation. It allows measurement programmes to be started manually or at a specified time, via an external trigger signal. All of the planned locations can be saved in a tour plan using Comsoft software and then loaded onto the analyser, or they can be set up directly on location. The Comsoft software allows for online measurement with curves, tables, histogram and the option of showing the readings from the different analysis boxes in system graphics.
The Testo 350 measuring system fulfils the requirements of many applications in industrial systems: up to eight analysis boxes or up to 10 loggers, may be connected together via the Testo data bus. All of the units are controlled, read out or programmed via the control unit or via the bus card of a PC. Parameters that can be measured by the 350 include flue gas parameters, differential pressure, velocity, temperature, humidity, volume flow, indoor air quality, pressure, rpm, current and voltage.
Typical applications for the Testo 350 system include tunnel burner checks in the different combustion zones, adjustment checks on filter systems in burners, simultaneous inspection of several burners in a boiler, in power stations to check the flue gases from combustion chamber to clean gas in the flue, long term monitoring of critical systems and on test rigs for research and development.
