Acoustic impedance density system for slurries

The Rhosonics acoustic impedance density system is based on cutting-edge technology and is a direct replacement for the traditional nuclear density systems on mining and sewage plants, but without all the red tape, paperwork and legal responsibilities associated with these devices. The sensor has the form of a full-bore wafer carrier ring with the measuring element mounted flush with the inner surface of the wafer. There are no moving parts, or any intrusion in the line, and results are available in real time. The actual control and display unit can be situated several metres away from the sensor in a convenient and protected location. Recent evaluation tests on a thickener density application in a South African sewage plant showed that in the particular application, the acoustic impedance principle proved superior to optical based products and is now prescribed as the standard density and TSS system on all new plants for this client.
