Continuous gas emission monitoring

May 2015 Analytical Instrumentation & Environmental Monitoring

Codel International has announced the 40 series gas emissions monitors designed primarily for use on boiler emission and control, and processes such as those in cement, metal, pulp and paper and petrochemical manufacturing. These innovative gas analysers are based on a design that has enabled Codel to produce a compact, reliable and accurate product at an extremely competitive price.

This advanced system may be configured in single or multi-channel mode – up to 5 gases plus oxygen, temperature and pressure). The available gases are CO, CO2, SO2, NOx, H2O and HCL and each of these are obtainable alone or in a number of combinations.

The main benefit of the 40 series is the use of an in situ stainless steel probe within the stack, which results in a reliable accurate design that does not require the ancillaries associated with extractive analysers such as chillers, heated lines, sample pumps, analyser house etc. This significantly lowers maintenance requirements and initial and on-going costs as well. The 40 series meets the requirements of EN14181 QAL1 performance and QAL 3 approval by injecting zero and span gases at required intervals and producing the data required for the product ion of reports as per legislation.

The sensor unit provides 4-20 mA and RS-485 outputs to the remote control unit or a PLC. Where operators require an output in other formats, this can be provided at the control unit using the onboard temperature, pressure and moisture sensors.

The system performs an automatic calibration every 24 hours which results in reliable repeatability of 0,2% i.e. little or no drift over long periods. Accuracy is 1% as tested over periods in excess of 24 months in harsh ambient conditions from -30 to +70°C.

A fully comprehensive package can be offered including gas, dust and mass flow measurement.
