Power supply for medical applications

September 2013 Electrical Power & Protection

In response to the demand for a reliable power supply for the medical industry, Mean Well has introduced the GSM40/60 series 40 and 60 AC-DC desktop type medical adaptor featuring high efficiency and low power consumption. These two units comply with international medical safety regulations. Possessing low leakage current, high efficiency and low no load power consumption (<0.1 W), they can fulfil the high quality demands of medical applications and are good power solutions for ‘patient contact’ medical applications. The series complies with the latest energy-saving regulations, such as ErP step 2 of European Union and EISA 2007 (Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007) of USA.

GSM40/60 series have similar PCB design and the same enclosure dimension. With 80~264 VAC input range and 5-48 V output voltage options to fulfil a variety of medical requirements, these are Class I power supplies with earth ground pin and enclosed by a plastic case to prevent users from electric shock. Other standard functions include: LED indicator and protections for short circuit, overload, over voltage and over temperature. GSM40/60 are safety certified per UL, CUL, TUV, CB, FCC and CE, to guarantee safety and reliability for all different medical applications including chemical and biological detection equipment, analytical instruments and other systems with low no load power consumption requirements.
