Radiation detectors approved for SA mining industry

The Thermo Scientific RadEye G 10 Ex radiation detectors have received approval for use in SA’s mining industry. The radiation detectors are used for safe measurements of radiation dose rates in potentially explosive environments.

RadEye G 10 Ex has a measuring range from 0,5 to 100 mSv/h and is designed to exceed the higher set points required for ‘Emergency Response Life-Saving Turn Around’ situations. Devices certified as intrinsically safe are designed to be unable to release sufficient electrical or thermal energy to cause ignition of flammable materials like gas, dust or particulates. The device has been engineered to avoid the generation of heat and electrical sparks. The rugged and reliable unit has a large backlit display, is lightweight and utilises low power technology.
