Moxa's WLAN clients optimised for industrial automation

Moxa’s latest offering is the AWK-1121 Series, an IEEE 802.11 a/b/g WLAN client ruggedised for the industrial networking world. Optimised for applications requiring a dedicated wireless client, the unit is designed to cater for space-constrained, mission-critical demands. With Turbo Roaming to give under 100 ms handoffs, redundant power inputs, MAC bridging for transparent device networking, and models that operate in temperatures ranging from -40 to 75°C, the AWK-1121 offers a high level of reliability and availability for wireless communications.

WLAN client optimised performance

The convenience of being able to connect devices without the use of wires has led to the unprecedented success of wireless technologies in the commercial sector; these same technologies are now making a strong move into industrial environments. The AWK-1121 WLAN client provides all key wireless benefits like mobility, flexibility, wider coverage and economic savings, and is specifically designed for hard-to-wire, tightly spaced applications. Roaming handoffs are benchmarked at 100 ms or less, effectively eliminating connectivity gaps for latency-sensitive applications like automatic guided vehicles (AGV) in factory automation systems, or those found in intelligent transport systems. With this unique collection of innovative features, the AWK-1121 is extremely simple to set up and secure: because it provides MAC bridging (L2 transparency) in the AP/Client mode, it escapes the security, connection, and speed limitations of traditional bridging configurations like WDS mode.
