The highlight of 2018 was the annual dinner enjoyed by branch members and the committee at Cheers in Irene. We were also very fortunate to have Ina and Johan Maartens join us towards the end of the evening.
The other noteworthy item was the meeting during December of committee members from the Johannesburg and Tshwane branches to strategise around collaboration opportunities. The meeting was also attended by vice president Pregs Naidoo. Topics discussed included score card and focus areas for 2019, new committee activities i.e. societal focus on community, schools, etc., golf day, site visits, training days and finally a relationship committee (i.e. to get more members, end users, patrons, etc.). It is important to note that the two branches will be working closely across Gauteng to leverage synergies that we feel will add additional value to our patrons and members. A call for support from the members to assist will be raised as part of the upcoming AGM.
In conclusion, the branch wishes all members a prosperous 2019.

“Never have so many owed so much to so few.” This phrase is a famous quote by Winston Churchill, referring to the efforts of the Royal Air Force pilots who fought in the Battle of Britain during World War II. It highlights the immense gratitude owed to the relatively small number of pilots who played a crucial role in defending the United Kingdom from the German Luftwaffe.
