SAIMC: Vaal branch
October 2018
SAIMC
The August technology evening was presented by Deon Lottering from SICK Automation. Deon has been in the industry since 1977 and has worked for Sasol, AECI, Safripol, and Chevron Nigeria before joining SICK Automation, where he currently holds the position of sales engineer and process automation systems facilitator.

During the presentation Deon dealt with in-situ dust and gas measurement applications in sub-Saharan Africa. The focus was on different applications, methods and the importance of measuring and controlling the emission of dust into the atmosphere – mostly from industry applications like chimneys and outlet stacks – in order to keep the environment clean and life supporting for current and future generations.
It is important for us all to look after the environment to ensure that we sustain life into the future, a mammoth tusk that not only requires big industrial players, but each and every one of us, to make an effort to maintain a healthy environment.
The evening was well attended and the topic was both interactive and interesting.

Recognition means little without participation, professional registration without professional conduct, and technical knowledge without the mentorship, implementation and measurable value that industry needs.
