Founded in 2005 by managing director, Grant Douglas, Afrilek is based in Meadowdale, Germiston with satellite offices in Cape Town, Durban and Namibia. Douglas is supported by sales director, Pregs Naidoo, as well as a team of 30 sales and engineering staff and 25 people employed on the panel assembling division of the business. Afrilek’s head office covers an area of 2000 square metres and houses a comprehensive stockholding of products and panel assemblies.

The company provides automation and electrical solutions from conceptualisation and design through to installation, commissioning and ongoing technical backup and maintenance of systems. “Our services include project management, panel manufacturing in collaboration with JGT, power management, low-voltage system design, building, testing and commissioning, electrical consulting and implementation, product distribution, training; and complete service and support of systems and products,” says Afrilek’s marketing and business development manager, Su-Anne Willemse.

“Our solutions are extensively tested at our facility, and together with client input, we are able to ensure that we meet all application requirements before installation begins. In addition, we work according to ISO 90001 quality standards. The company is accredited with ECA (Electrical Contractors Association) and CIDB (Construction Industry Development Board),and we have level 2 BBBEE status. We are also signed up with Profibus and the Society for Automation, Instrumentation, Measurement and Control (SAIMC),” Willemse adds.

The company has a number of installations across various industries both in South Africa as well as throughout the continent. “We have grown our footprint by focusing on customising solutions to meet specific application needs. In addition, we invest in the development and training of our staff by identifying their unique strengths and talents. By ensuring that they stay informed about new technology, we can provide our clients with best practice in line with global trends,” explains Willemse.

An extensive knowledge base and substantial experience with a variety of scada/DCS systems and the interfacing of PLC systems, has led to repeat business for Afrilek with a number of its clients.

Willemse points out that Afrilek is affiliated to a number of industry vendors and supplies solutions using Schneider, Siemens, Lapp Kabel, Rockwell, Wonderware, Rittal and Phoenix Contact technology.

“Afrilek remains focused on analysing the specific requirements of each client’s installation to ensure that the solution will provide increased productivity, maximised uptime, ease of use and adaptability, and an improved return on investment.
