On the 6th of September Gary Friend from Extech hosted a very interesting technology evening at the Secunda branch. The topic under discussion was cyber security in a modern process network. During the presentation Friend discussed the myths of network security, IT security, the Bastion model as well as utilising defence in depth as a solution to cyber security issues. The committee would like to thank the presenter as well as all the attendees who braved the rain and hail to attend the presentation. In the picture the branch chairman Kobus Reinecke (left) is handing over the presenter’s certificate to Friend. Our next technology evening will be hosted by Proconics on the 4th of October and the presentation will be conducted by Divan Pretorius. Pretorius will be discussing the life cycle of functional safety.
