It is with a degree of sadness that I took note of the passing of 2011. Some of my good intentions never materialised and neither did some excellent goals that the SAIMC set for itself. We did achieve some notable things though, and made some fine memories along the way – firewood that can be packed for the day when we are no longer able (or willing) to participate in the rat race. We also welcomed some wonderful new family members into our world, people who will leave their mark on the organisation in the future.

Reflecting on 2011, I have to thank our various committees for the excellent work they have done. The golf days, technical evenings, year-end functions, keeping Technews and our website up to date with happenings in the branches, participating in ECSA and other regulatory activities, these are the contributions that have led to the close working relationships we have developed with ECSA, the SAIEE, MESA and the IIG.
To welcome this New Year, we have set ambitious New Targets! Education, value for members and representing the industry to the best of our ability – this is what our constitution expects from us and we have the people and the skills to do it. So join us and become a part of these exciting times.
Here is wishing you and your families all the very best for 2012.
