Johannesburg Branch News
February 2001
SAIMC
It is the new year and already the Johannesburg Committee is hard at work organising meetings, interesting speakers, business breakfasts, golf days, site visits and so on. If only our members would sacrifice some of their precious time to attend and partake in these activities, we would have a great year ahead of us. As advertised many times, the AGM took place on 31 January at the Rivonia Club and already the Johannesburg branch members displayed a total disregard for the Institute by not attending the most important meeting of the year.
At this early stage of the year there is not much to report, except that our Committee treasurer, Rob Ambler has resigned due to work and study pressures. His position has been taken up by Johan V Jaarsveld. If any of our members are interested in joining the committee, please do not hesitate to contact us at the address below. Our meetings will again take place on every second Wednesday of the month at the Rivonia Club, except if we have a special function that will always be advertised well in advance. The dates are as follows:
31 January, AGM
14 February, Branch Meeting
14 March, Branch Meeting
16 March, Site visit to SAB
11 April, Branch Meeting
09 May, Branch Meeting
31 May, Business Breakfast
13 June, Branch Meeting
11 July, Wine Tasting Evening
18 July, Site visit to BMW Factory
08 August, Branch Meeting
12 September, Branch meeting, site visit to the NML
10 October, Branch Meeting
26 October, Golf day
14 November, Branch Meeting
Booking for the SAB site visit is now open for members only and the price is R20,00 per person - this includes a pub lunch and two drinks. Tickets to the Business Breakfast should be on sale by the second half of April, so please make a note of this important date now.
