Our last technology evening was a presentation titled ‘Cost savings on steam through application training’ by Arjen Vink. This presentation shared valuable insights into savings that can be achieved by making proper valve selection and monitoring performance using a program such as TVM.

A field trip was arranged to the BMW factory and members from as far as the Kriel and Komati power stations attended. The branch would like to thank Tanja West (Plant Tours and Events Co-ordinator) for the special arrangements she made to accommodate us as the plant will be closed to visitors effective 1 April for the remainder of the year due to facility upgrades.
Our next field trip will be to the WIKA factory which is one of our more popular and informative destinations. This is an opportunity to experience local expertise in the manufacturing of measurement instrumentation we encounter on a daily basis. For more information contact Dennis Hoffman, 082 828 3495, [email protected].
The upcoming golf day is a social event not to be missed on 26 May. The Process Expo at Nasrec also takes place at this time (24–26 May). This has not affected interest in the Secunda golf day which will continue as planned. For more information contact Peter Zietsman on +27 (0)83 310 7925, [email protected]
