Hosted at the Rand Club in Johannesburg, the SAIMC’s annual gala evening was a well attended event ushered in as usual by the Scottish pipers. Filled with entertainment and good food the event was a great opportunity to network with automation junkies and catch up with friends not seen for far too long.

The after dinner speaker, Dave Howcroft of Instrotech, announced his imminent retirement and then took the audience down memory lane as he reminisced about the good, the bad and the bubbly since the days of the thermionic valve and the nine transistor radio. Friends and racing cars from the past brought back memories for the ‘old timers’ in the audience and pictures of stylish houses built from the ground up were a reminder to all of what can be achieved through hard work and determination.
A vote of thanks to everyone who attended, and a round of applause to those who put in the work to make the industry’s premier evening such an enjoyable success.
