Dr André Joubert from Sasol Technology R&D captivated the August Technology Evening of the SAIMC Vaal branch with an innovative presentation titled ‘Virtualisation in control systems using VMware’. The presentation centred on virtual computers and virtual networks with specific application in the control systems environment. The content, whilst different to traditional control and instrumentation topics, was extremely well received by members of the audience suggesting opportunities for implementation in their specific environment. And to top it all, André kindly provided the audience with copies of the freeware version software in order for them to explore its capabilities. A gesture which was appreciated by all: who does not like free stuff?
