During the months of June and July things got back to normal at the Secunda branch after our successful golf day – a vote of thanks to everyone who participated. Two excellent technology evenings were held at Ali’s Lapa:
* Coriolis measurement – Frans van den Berg – Endress+Hauser.
* Process Safety – Rolf Köstlin – Siemens.
The one in August will probably be on cable entries, which should be very interesting.
Organising our annual Year End function is now in full swing. It is already past the half year mark and the year is going downhill. The Soccer World Cup is finished and soon the tri nations will be as well. The road show in Secunda is our highlight for the month.
If I look at the branch reviews in the magazine I get the feeling that the SAIMC has not been this healthy in a very long time. I say let us keep this up, we need the stability for the Society to earn the required credibility from industry and other professional bodies.
Lastly, a word of thanks to council for the new banners they provided for the branches. They look good and will be well used.
