Cape Town branch

May 2010 SAIMC

The Cape Town branch of the SAIMC held its AGM on 25 March where the 2010/2011 committee was elected. Selvan Murugan has taken over the seat of chairman from Theo Schmidt who is standing down after his two years; Selvan will be leading the Cape Town branch with his team: Clyde September (vice-chairman); Michelle Venter (secretary); Gercian Haupt (treasurer) and Theo Schmidt (events coordinator).

It promises to be an eventful year with various guest speakers. The main objective of 2010 will be to provide suitable value for all CT registered members in the form of technical recognition and brand association. We will also have a variety of fundraisers to boost awareness of the SAIMC Cape Town branch in which we accept the challenge of the Secunda branch.

Forthcoming attractions

Our monthly Technical Evenings will continue on 27 May with a presentation by Siemens. We will also be having our very first fundraiser for the year on 29 May, with an exciting rugby Super 14 final to be viewed on the big screen at the Eskom Marketing Centre at Edgemead (off Montague Street). This is the venue where we have our monthly Technical Evenings. We will be having a ‘Potjie Cook-Off’ competition before the game begins, a cash bar will be open all day and there are some big prizes to be won!

We would like to encourage all Cape Town branch members and interested parties to attend our Technical Evenings and also our fundraisers that will take place throughout the year, more details will be sent to members in due course. To assist with this we encourage all members to update their details. If you need more information, please call Michelle Venter on +27 (0)82 319 6348 or e-mail: [email protected]
