The September Technology Evening was sponsored by WIKA, and Ralf Hesse gave us a presentation on thermowells. Many of us never realised the amount of work that goes into the design and manufacturing of a thermowell. Unfortunately the attendance was not as good as it has been this year so far. We think and hope this low attendance is due to Sasol having a planned plant shutdown. Most people then work until 19:00.

Our next Technology Evening will be held on 8 October. Johan Maartens has kindly agreed to tell us more about ECSA membership.

Please do not forget about our year-end function which will be held on 6 November. If you have not been invited by a company to attend, we are selling seats. The price is very reasonable as we are not out to make a profit from this function. Our branch is in fact donating some of our funds towards the function so that we can make it affordable for everyone in these tough times.
Feel free to contact me on my cell +27 (0)83 310 7925 or by e-mail at [email protected] if you have any questions which relate to the SAIMC or our branch activities.
