SAIMC

Johannesburg branch

May 2009 SAIMC

It is April 2009 and the Johannesburg branch has had its first opportunity to meet and have a technology evening for its members and visitors.

We have a jam-packed plan for 2009. Our aim is to present interesting and relevant new technologies or trends in the industry to our members. The committee would like to receive feedback and suggestions from our members to continue to develop the Johannesburg branch of the SAIMC. Our first technology evening in April 2009, was a huge success and an interesting topic: 'Design methodologies for process alarm systems' was presented by Nirmal Narotam from PAS Automation Services. Our May 2009 Technology Evening has also been confirmed and the topic will be: 'Foundation Fieldbus in hazardous areas'.

Beyond the technology evenings the Johannesburg Branch will be hosting the annual Golf Day on 17 July. First tee-off time will be 09h00 at Kempton Park Country Club. The committee is also planning several site visits during the year and we will keep you posted.

One of the Johannesburg Branch’s biggest efforts every year is the guest lectures at Tertiary Education Facilities in the Johannesburg region. The committee will remain committed to this effort to provide technical and practical support to the institutions and future members. SAIMC must remain and grow as the society of choice in our industry.

Finally, please visit the SAIMC website (www.saimc.org.za) to update your contact details. The secretariat of the SAIMC will be sending reminders of meetings etc, to its members via SMS and e-mail. If your contact details are not up to date you could miss out on exciting events hosted by the Johannesburg Branch.

See you on 13 May 2009.

The new Johannesburg Branch Committee is:

* Paulo de Sousa Gomes – chairman.

* Debbie Scott – vice chairperson.

* Johan van Jaarsveld – treasurer.

* Eric Carter – secretary.

* Dean Khubeka.

* Gert Potgieter.

* Johan Maartens.

* Jay King.

Support your industry! Diarise 17 July as the day you entertain friends, staff or customers at the annual golf day. Once again we will be hosting a day of friendship and fun, as well as a whole range of prizes. Tee-off starts at 09h00 and 4-balls are available at R1750. Sponsor two four-balls, and you get a watering hole. Watering hole sponsorship is also separately available.

To book, contact Debbie Scott on +27 (0)83 788 5145 or [email protected]
